How do the two compare?
| Find My Roofer | Builderscrack | |
|---|---|---|
| Who picks the tradie | Checked local roofers see the job, and the first to take it gets the homeowner's details | Tradies chase a posted job, and the homeowner chooses which of them to connect with (it calls this a "double-handshake") |
| Tradies connected per job | One roofer gets the contact details; others in the area may see the job without them | No more than two other tradies connected on a job lead invite at a time |
| How you pay | Per job | Connection Subscriptions that include tokens, spent to connect with homeowners from lead invites, direct enquiries and profile contact reveals |
| When you're charged | Per job, and a job with wrong details (a fake number, or work that isn't roofing) is reviewed when you tell us | Only once the homeowner accepts your connection request, with no token refunds after that |
| Contract | Gone through with you on a call before anything is signed | Fixed Term: an introductory 6 months, then automatic renewal for 12, with an early termination fee. Prepaid: renews for the same term, with a reminder at least 7 days before |
| Unused credit | No tokens or credits to expire | Tokens expire at the end of the term (carried over on renewal) and on cancellation, without a refund |
| Checks on tradies | LBP status on the public register where the work needs one, plus public liability insurance of at least $2 million, seen before the first job | Identity and business registration, plus any insurance or trade licence the tradie has provided |
| Reviews | None of our own yet, as we're new in New Zealand | Describes its reviews as verified reviews from Builderscrack homeowners, and the tradie gets 7 days to respond before a review is published |
| How the homeowner pays for the work | Directly to the roofer | Directly to the tradie |
How big is Builderscrack?
When we checked on 28 October 2026, its homepage showed 16,118 verified tradies, 357,748 verified reviews and 991,526 jobs posted, with an average job rating of 4.8 out of 5.0. Its roofers directory listed 822 roofer profiles. Its plans page was also offering tradies free local leads for 30 days.
Builderscrack's parent company, MyQuote Limited, was bought by an ASX-listed trades marketplace group in a deal reported in December 2021, and the buyer said the brand and leadership team would stay. That group's FY26 results presentation says its New Zealand business, in the year to 30 June 2026, had job volume of 109k, connection volume of 140k and 3.4k subscription businesses.
How does Builderscrack handle reviews?
Its terms ask a homeowner to disclose the amount invoiced or quoted before leaving a workmanship review. It may remove or ask for changes to reviews with major inaccuracies, defamatory or inappropriate content, or personal information, and says it doesn't moderate a review simply because it's critical.
We're new in New Zealand and have no reviews of our own to compare yet.
Which model suits which roofer?
They work differently. On Builderscrack you see lead invites, decide which to chase, and the homeowner chooses who to connect with from the tradies who did. Tokens come off when they accept.
With us, you see the jobs in your area, take the ones you want and pay per job, and the first roofer to take a job is the only one who gets the homeowner's details. The better fit comes down to your own numbers: how many quotes you can price in a week, and what a won job costs you from each source.
How we'd weigh them up
Track a month of work from every source: what you spent, what you quoted and what you won. Cost per won job, source by source, tells you more than this page can, and it's the fairest way to judge us as well.
