Roofers aim to call you within the hour.
Find my roofer
For roofers

AreasEvery region is open to apply for.

We're signing up roofers across New Zealand, and every area is open to apply for, from Northland to Southland. Tell us exactly where you'll travel and the work you take on, and we'll go through how areas work on a call before you sign anything.

Updated 28 October 2026 · Written by the Find My Roofer team · How we check our facts

Which areas can you apply for?

All of them. We're signing up roofers in every region, so wherever you work, apply and list the suburbs or postcodes you cover.

Homeowners can already read local roofing pages for places like Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton and Tauranga. Those pages are written for homeowners. They don't mean we have roofers there yet.

Will an area be mine alone?

It's a fair question. How areas work, including whether any part of one can be held by a single roofer, is something we go through with you on a call, before anything is signed.

What stays the same everywhere is that only one roofer ever gets a homeowner's contact details: the first local roofer to take the job.

How do jobs in your area reach you?

Postcode first, then the job and the roof. The homeowner types in a four-digit postcode, picks the job and says what the roof is made of: longrun, decramastic, concrete or clay tile, membrane, or not sure. Checked roofers who cover that area then see the job with the homeowner's first name and suburb, and the first to take it gets their contact details.

If no roofer takes a job within 48 hours, roofers elsewhere in the region may see it. Where a job is likely to be restricted building work, such as a consented re-roof, only roofers licensed for it are in the running. So the jobs and roof types you list matter as much as the suburbs.

What should you tell us about where you work?

  • The postcodes or suburbs you'll really drive to, rather than the widest patch you could cover
  • Places you'll only travel to for bigger work, like a full re-roof
  • The jobs you take on, and the ones you'd rather never see
  • Roof types you don't work on, such as butynol, torch-on membrane, slate or asbestos cement
  • Whether you take jobs in Rotorua's geothermal areas, where BRANZ trials found bare steel near Sulphur Bay corroding far faster than in the west of the city
  • How many new jobs a week you can realistically get out and quote
  • Months when you're flat out and want fewer jobs

Covering more than one council area?

Lots of roofers do. Councils grant building consents and issue code compliance certificates, and an LBP's record of work goes to the council too. A roofer working across Lower Hutt, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast deals with three different councils on consented jobs, while the North Shore, West Auckland and South Auckland all sit under Auckland Council.

Tell us which councils you're used to. Homeowners reading our building consent guide are told to ask their council or their roofer when they're unsure, so some of those questions will land with you.

What if you work in a small town or out in the country?

Apply, and list the towns and rural areas you'll drive to. Jobs that nobody local takes within 48 hours can open up to the wider region, so a roofer who's happy to travel may see work from further afield.

Our take on choosing your patch

We'd start with the suburbs you can reach within half an hour and add more once you've seen how many jobs come through. Widening an area later is easy. Explaining to someone with a dripping ceiling why you can't come until next week is much harder.

Questions

Straight answers.

Can I cover more than one city?
Yes. List everywhere you work when you apply, and we'll talk through how several areas are handled on a call before you sign.
Will you cover small towns and rural areas?
Yes. The whole of New Zealand is open to apply for, so tell us about the country areas you cover.
Is there a map of open postcodes?
No, because there's no area you can't apply for. Just list your suburbs or postcodes when you email us.
